Gospel Study
On Wednesday
mornings at 12:00 Noon and evenings at 7:30 PM we have a Scripture Study
based on the Gospels for the coming Sunday. We meet in the Church.
This program is open to people from outside the parish as well. Each
session includes a teaching by Fr. Mike Comer and time for discussion,
and prayer. All are welcome.
RCIA (Right of Christian Initiation of Adults)
The RCIA is the
process that one goes through in order to join the Catholic Church as an
adult. The classes are open to those who are already Catholic and who
want to gain a deeper understanding of their faith, and those who are
unsure if they want to be Catholic, as well as those who have made that
decision.
Scripture Study Group (Monday evening)
The Monday evening
Scripture Study Group gathers in the School Library at 7:30 PM to study
and reflect on various books of the Bible. In addition there is time
for prayer, song and other readings. We share laughter, tears and hugs,
but most of all a closeness to God and each other. We invite
everyone to become part of this special time with God and fellow
parishioners.
Retreats at Marydale
Once each year
members of St. Bernard Parish are invited to take part in a weekend of
solitude and rest at the Marydale Diocesan Retreat Center. The weekend
begins Friday evening at 6:00 PM and continues through Sunday until
around 12:00 Noon. Marydale sits in a secluded setting in Erlanger,
Kentucky and provides sleeping and dining facilities for those
participating in a retreat.
The retreats are guided by the Retreat Master, usually a clergy or
religious person from various parts of the country. There are separate
weekends for women and men and the St. Bernard community usually has an
large number of participants.
Diocesan Ministries
In addition to those ministries here at
St. Bernard Parish, the Diocese of Covington offers the Lay Pastoral
Ministry Program which is open to lay women and men of the Diocese. The
program is approximately a two and one half year formational curriculum
at the Catholic Center in Erlanger, Ky. which exposes the participant to
an in-depth study of scripture and various ministries. Those seeking to
move into a much more active ministry should consider this program.
